Kamloops RCMP are looking for three people in connection with an extensive early morning chase.
Residents are being asked to check security cameras after the suspects fled through the downtown area.
Police say that around 4:40 Friday morning, an officer patrolling the Halston Connector and was attempting to make a routine traffic stop when the truck and trailer fled from police.
“The investigation would later reveal that the truck and trailer were both stolen, and firearms were present inside the vehicle,” said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP Detachment spokesperson.
Further attempts to pull over the vehicle on Mount Paul Way was also unsuccessful. It then hit a semi on the highway before entering back onto city streets. Its trailer struck several parked vehicles before dislodging on Battle Street. Another vehicle was located inside the trailer.
“The suspects continued on in the truck, then abandoned it on Bluff Place and fled on foot,” added Cpl. Evelyn. “Three suspects were seen running throughout the downtown and through backyards, as police officers, including the Police Dog Service Unit, looked for them.”
Police also found there to be a dog in the truck which was taken to he animal shelter.
The truck, described as a silver crew cab with a canopy, was reported stolen out of Williams Lake; the trailer from Quesnel.
“Occurrences such as these which involve the presence of stolen vehicles and firearms, are very concerning to police and the public, and we are asking residents to please check their video and dash cameras for any alerts from the early morning hours that could be related to this ongoing investigation,” said Cpl. Evelyn.
The trailer has since been towed from the scene. No injuries were reported.
