A little slice of Hollywood in Kamloops this week for a feature film.
Filming is underway in the downtown of Kamloops for a feature film with the working title “My Secret Santa.”
The company behind the shoot has been sending out notifications to area businesses, advising them of the shooting schedule.
While the company has not provided details of the film itself, sources tell Radio NL that the shoot involves stars Alexandra Breckinridge and Ryan Eggold.
An IMDB page for the production has been established, but not filled in at this point with anything other than production personnel.
The plot of the romantic comedy is said to revolve around a single mother — Breckinridge — who takes a job at a ski resort.
The feature is reportedly being developed for Netflix, with expectations it will be a holiday release.
Breckinridge is the star of the Netflix romantic drama series “Virgin River,” which is shot here in BC as well — mostly on the coast.
Her credits also include a role in the hit series This Is Us.
Eggold was the lead in the 5 season medical drama New Amsterdam, which wrapped up in 2023.
He was also a lead actor in the crime drama The Blacklist and its spinoffs.
It’s not clear how long shooting will be taking place in Kamloops.
The locations thus far appear to be downtown, but seem likely to shift, given the reported plot of the film.
It comes as the Thompson Nicola Film Commission has been pressing for more productions to be filmed in the City and the broader region.
Promotion of the film industry in British Columbia was mentioned as part of the economic development plans the NDP government will be pushing to promote in the years ahead.
