A letter has been sent out from Thompson Rivers University to inform its staff and students of a safety warning.
A screenshot of the letter was anonymously sent to Radio NL. A transcript of the letter is below:
Dear faculty, staff and students,
We want to make you aware that a threatening letter has been received by Thompson Rivers University. The letter, which contains a suggestion of potential acts of violence on the TRU Kamloops campus, was immediately turned over to the RCMP.
While the RCMP has not found evidence that the threat is credible, the letter is being taken seriously. TRU is cooperating fully and following their guidance. TRU is actively reviewing campus safety protocols, and an increase in campus security, including the presence of our RCMP, will be noticed through the coming days.
We encourage everyone on our campus to be watchful in the coming days and report activity they consider suspicious contact. TR security at 250-828-5033, if needed,

We note that this is we note that this period is busy academically, with final exams being written through to the end of next week, exams will continue as scheduled. TRU is confident that this matter is being handled in a way that ensures public safety support services are available for those who are unsettled or anxious about this update.
