Just after 2:45, traffic began flowing across the bridge once again.
The Overlanders Bridge is open again, following a brief closure in response to a weapon’s report this afternoon.
Shortly after 2:00 Friday afternoon, the Kamloops RCMP Detachment received a report of a person on the Tranquille overpass in possession of what appeared to be a long-gun. Frontline officers flooded the area and closed the Overlanders Bridge to vehicle and pedestrian traffic while they investigated.
“The bridge reopened shortly after, but the investigation remains ongoing,” said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP Detachment spokesperson. “No one was located in the area matching the suspect’s description and no further reports have been received.”
The person is described as a Caucasian man wearing a backwards ballcap and blue shirt.
