Twenty-two young prospects and their families will be in Kamloops this weekend for the annual Spring Development Camp.
“For many of these players and families it’s their first introduction into the City and the organization,” stated Blazers Director of Player Personnel Aaron Keller.
The list of players includes both the 2010 and 2011 Draft classes – including the players selected in the WHL Prospects Draft earlier this month. That includes 1st round pick (8th overall) Micah Montgomery out of Edmonton.
“We should have most of our prospects here this weekend, although a couple in Manitoba are in their provincial camps. Other than that we expect everyone in Kamloops,” continued Keller.
The players and families will go through an introduction and orientation Friday at the Sandman Centre. On ice sessions will be at Brock Arena Saturday and Sunday. A schedule on times has yet to be released but practices and scrimmages are again open to the public.

Several players from the 2010 age group will come in looking to take their next step in making the team in the fall. Those players include 1st round picks F Teagen Bouchard and D Mateo Ferreira. 2ND round pick F Brady Ondrus is also coming off a good season. California born F Collin Kim and D Chase Gill also showed well at last year’s Development Camp.
“We will see what sort of steps the 2010 (16 year-old) draft class has taken. Obviously it’s a big jump to the WHL level but we’re confident there are a few who will be ready this fall to step into the lineup,” added Keller.
A full schedule is expected later this week at www.blazerhockey.com.
