Kamloops Blazers forward Logan Stankoven has been nominated for the WHL Humanitarian of the Year Award for the second consecutive season.
The Blazers captain was named the B.C. Division nominee for the Doug Wickenheiser Memorial Trophy for his work with the Hockey Gives Blood campaign, which works to engage and educate the hockey community about the importance of blood and stem cell donation.
Stankoven helped raised $41,000 in support of Hockey Gives Blood and Canadian Blood Services on March 11, when the Blazers hosted the Vancouver Giants.
“Beyond his work with Hockey Gives Blood, Stankoven worked to raise another $10,000 for the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation through three separate campaigns,” the WHL said in a news release Thursday.
Also up for the award is Calder Anderson of the Brandon Wheat Kings in the East Division, Beau Courtney of the Everett Silvertips in the U.S. Division, and 2019-20 winner Riley Fiddler-Schultz of the Calgary Hitmen in the Central Division.
Seattle Thunderbirds defenceman Luke Prokop won the award last season, beating out Stankoven, Winnipeg ICE forward Conor Geekie, and Spokane Chiefs defenceman, Graham Sward.
