RCMP say a bloody blue Ikea rug that was recently turned into the Barriere RCMP detachment is associated with a violent criminal act.
Police did not say when the five-by-eight-foot rug was turned in or where it came from, though they believe it came from the Kamloops region.
The blood on the rug is human, police say, noting the South East District’s Major Crime Unit is taking over the investigation.
“Investigators believe the nature of the offence was targeted and that no danger to the public exists,” RCMP Staff Sgt. Jason Smart, of the South East District Major Crime Unit, said in a Sunday news release.
In a news release on Saturday, Mounties said they were “concerned for the well-being of the person or persons to whom the blood belongs.”
People with information are being told to contact the South East District Major Crime Unit Tip Line at 1-877-987-8477.
