The Thompson-Nicola Regional District says it has gotten word about a structure south of Kamloops that was destroyed by the Ross Moore Lake wildfire.
CAO Scott Hildebrand says details are limited at this time, including where the property is located.
“From our understanding right now, it is a secondary recreational structure so we are doing our due diligence to understand ownership to ensure that we’re communicating that properly,” Hildebrand told Radio NL.
“Other than that, nothing else what has been reported.”
Hildebrand says the TNRD expects to have more information about the type of the structure that was destroyed on Tuesday. As this point, there is no word of any injuries or loss of life linked to the fire.
“It’s pretty deep into the bush, it’s quite a ways in, so we need to make sure that we verify ownership,” Hildebrand added.

The TNRD is not expecting a change in orders or alerts tonight, but the situation is fluid.

The BC Wildfire Service says it had structure protection crews responding to this fire, though its not clear where they have been working. It also had ground and air crews fighting the fire Monday, with a heavy equipment taskforce also on scene.
A total of 334 TNRD properties were ordered to evacuate on Sunday night as the lightning-caused fire grew in size, and moved closer to Kamloops.
However, cooler, wetter weather on Monday led to calmer fire conditions after a series of days with gusting winds and day time highs into the mid-to-high 30s.
