The Vice-President of the BC Conservative Kamloops-North Thompson Riding Association has resigned.
Alan Forseth cites a decision by the party executive and election readiness committee to not extend the timeline for people who want to seek the nomination to be the candidate in the upcoming provincial election next fall.
“I’ve been trying to have the date for the nomination to be extended [beyond the current Nov. 16] to allow for us to have a really good opportunity to seek the best possible candidates to run and to build the Riding Association as well too,” Forseth told Radio NL.
“Despite my best efforts, and whether people agree with me or not, it didn’t come to pass and I just could not agree with that situation. I’ll continue ads a member but I just can’t stay on the board if that is going to be the situation.”
Speaking on NL Newsday, Forseth said there was one candidate who has stepped forward, though he was not at liberty to say who.
