UPDATE 4:33 p.m. – Seven people were taken to Royal Inland Hospital after a large multi-vehicle crash McGill Road and University Drive in Kamloops this afternoon.
BC Emergency Health Services says three of the people taken to hospital were in a critical condition while the other four were in a stable condition.
They say another four people were treated by paramedics at the scene and did not need to be taken to hospital.
Police, firefighters, and paramedics all responded to the crash near Thompson Rivers University just after 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29.
Pictures sent to Radio NL appear to show at least four vehicles – a red Jeep, a black pick up truck, a white cube van, and a grey sedan or hatchback – involved in the crash.
It is not clear what caused the crash, but the grey vehicle appears to be the most impacted.

“The public is asked to please plan a detour around the area while police presence remains,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn, said, noting the extent of the injuries are not known at this time.
“The Kamloops RCMP Municipal Traffic Unit has conduct of the investigation.”
Drivers are being told to avoid the area for the foreseeable future as emergency responders are still on scene.
There is no estimated time when the road might reopen to traffic.
