Kamloops native Logan Stankoven has been named the American Hockey League’s rookie of the month for November.
The 20-year-old tallied eight goals and 15 points in 10 games for the Texas Stars last month.
Stankoven leads all AHL rookies in scoring and is tied for the league lead with 13 goals. He’s also second in the AHL scoring race with 24 points in 17 games.
A second-round pick of the Dallas Stars in the 2021 NHL Draft, Stankoven is currently on a seven-game point streak where he’s put up seven goals and 11 points.
It’s the first recognition of Stankoven’s fledgling professional hockey career, after an award-filled junior career with his hometown Kamloops Blazers, that included him being named to the Canadian Hockey League First Team All-Star in 2022-23 and the CHL’s Player of the Year in 2021-22.
Texas Stars forward Mavrik Bourque was named the AHL’s Player of the Month for November with Arturs Silovs of the Abbotsford Canucks was named the AHL’s Goaltender of the Month.
