The former CN Railway station in downtown Kamloops will be home to a steakhouse once again, though it will be run by a pair of local restaurateurs.
Twisted Steak is set to relocate from the Aberdeen-area to the 500 Lorne St. location – which was home to The Keg restaurant for 11 years – later this fall.
“We are on the move,” brothers Jeff and Steve Mitton said on Facebook.
The train station building has been vacant since The Keg closed down in 2016. Plans to turn 95-year station into a craft distillery were derailed by COVID-19.
“That location that the steakhouse is going into, I congratulate them because it is just one of the hidden gems of Kamloops,” John Hromyk, the President of Iron Horse Venture, told NL News earlier this month.
“Having someone else doing the restaurant business would probably be a better fit as we’re not restaurateurs, we’re distillers.”
Twisted Steak is currently located inside the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel on Rogers Way, with that location expected to be open until the end of next month.
