The Lac Le Jeune Resort will be reopening its doors on May 16, roughly five years after it was closed to the public.
It will be owned by Polaris Advisory, a hospitality consultancy run by Vivek Sharma and former Tourism Kamloops CEO Monica Dickinson.
Dickinson tells Radio NL they bought the five acre property in February of this year.
“The area is obviously known for a lot of its outdoor adventure – hiking and mountain bike and then in the winter Stake Lake is a neighbour, where there is great cross country skiing and fishing,” Dickinson said, on NL Newsday.
“Really looking forward to embracing all that nature that the area has to offer.”
Dickinson says she feels the biggest feature will be the new restaurant, noting it will be the first time that food and beverage service is offered to people who aren’t guests at Lac Le Jeune.
“Really excited to be working with Nicole Mackie, who you may know is owner of Salty Fig Catering,” Dickinson added. “She is coming on as our executive chef. We’re looking forward to having a really approachable and fun and delicious culinary program.”
There will be 21 guests rooms and six cabins on the five acre property that is located about 20 minutes southwest of Kamloops.
“The priority is getting open and getting the place cleaned up,” Dickinson said. “For anybody who hasn’t experienced the Lac Le Jeune Resort previously, a lot of the original decor still exists, so there is a lot of room for improvements but in order for us to get doors open as quickly as possible, we’ve really focused on curating experiences on the exterior – fire pits, a paint job and face lift, and some landscaping elements.
“Beyond that on the inside were looking at updating all of the linen and the small details that make the stay as comfortable as possible.
