The City of Kamloops has finalized its active transportation ‘wish list,’ with expectations the public might get a look at it in a few weeks time.
Transportation Manager, Purvez Irani, has told council’s Sustainability and Livability Committee they’ve identified over three dozen different projects they’d like to see get done.
“We’ve basically circled about 40 priority active transportation projects with the AT [Active Transportation] Engagement Group, looking at 7 different priorities, criteria,” Irani told the Committee on Tuesday.
While not detailing them at this point before they go before a council workshop sometime next month, Irani does say they have been working with Tk’emlups on their priorities.
“We’re looking at connecting their active transportation network to ours,” said Irani. “That will be highlighted in the plans that we provide.”
Irani says its their hope is they can take their roughly 40 different projects to the public within the next couple of months.
“Beginning [of] August or end of July,” said Irani when asked about timelines. “We’ll see how those dates work out for booking a public engagement venue.”
Council set aside a million dollars a year last year to help speed up the Transportation Master Plan, to which walking and cycling routes have been prioritized.
