UPDATE: The TransCanada Highway west of Kamloops is fully open once again, following a small fire to the east of Cache Creek this afternoon.
The fire, discovered just before 1pm, jumped from spot size to about half-a-hectare before being held by BC Wildfire crews.
It’s proximity to the Highway prompted the Ministry of Transportation to shut down access through the are where crews were staging to single-lane, alternating for a couple of hours.
Meanwhile, as crews were dealing with that fire, a second small blaze popped up along the TransCanada just a few kilometers to the east of the original blaze.
That fire was quickly actioned by crews, and was listed as “under control” within the course of around an hour.
No word yet on the cause of either blaze.
