Vit Zahejsky is coming to Kamloops.
The Blazers signed the 2007-born Czech forward to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement, a little over a month after they took him second overall at the 2024 CHL Import Draft.
“I think I am a skilled player that hates to lose,” Zahejsky told NL Sports. “I can’t wait to come to Kamloops. I want come as soon as possible.”
Zahejsky, who turns 17 on Saturday, had 39 points (19 goals and 20 assists) in 42 games for the HC Energie Karlovy Vary’s U20 team last season. He also added two goals and seven points in seven playoff games.
As a 15-year-old, the five-foot-10 right shot forward also tied for first in scoring in the U17 league with 67 points (27 goals and 40 assists) in 36 games in the 2022-23 season.
A native of Plzen, Zahejsky has a goal and an assist in two games for his native Czechia at the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup in Edmonton. He previously put up a goal and three assists in eight games at the 2023 Under-17 World Hockey Challenge.
I’m liking some 1st impressions of Zahejsky in two games. Skilled, involved physically & works hard. Centering the 2nd line, & PP1. In brief conversation he’s enthusiastic and eager and is dialed when it comes to the game. He has room to grow as a Blazer the next few seasons. https://t.co/63CIzSVOn6
