Kamloops is currently playing host to the 29th B.C Games.

Tournament Capital Coordinator, Sean Smith says, the event brings about 1.6 million dollars in economic benefits to the city

“A lot of that is going to be spent on meals for the athletes, but then spectators will account for a lot of accommodation, shopping, and meals as well.”

Smith says, the Games has about 1,200 athletes attending, with another 600 coaches, officials, and event staff.

“The opportunity of having B.C’s best young athletes in Kamloops, seeing what we have, just goes a long way in showing the rest of the province what we have here.”

Smith adds, the event can also showcase how the Tournament Capital is capable of hosting high level competitions.
