Fittingly on Earth Day, the federal Green Party leader is tying the knot today with her husband who is from Ashcroft.
The 65-year-old Elizabeth May is marrying John Kidder in Victoria, who is a farmer in the Ashcroft area and one of the founders of the B-C Green Party.
May tells NL News the pair started dating in September and that Kidder proposed after only a month.
“It’s an understatement to say this is an exciting time in my life. I’m 65 years old, John is 71, and we’ve known each other about six years. And – people love a love story – this was definitely a whirlwind romance.”
She says the couple will spend their honeymoon on a train heading from B.C. back to Ottawa so she doesn’t miss any time at work.
Kidder will be running as the Green Party candidate for the Mission-Matsqui-Fraser Canyon riding in this fall’s federal election.
