The mayor of Ashcroft says while regional bus service has been restored, local service is getting a boost as well.
Barbara Roden points out the Ashcroft-to-Clinton bus has been running for some time, but says Cache Creek has decided to rejoin.
“For better or worse, a lot of the services people need are based in Ashcroft, and people were finding it difficult to make that six-mile journey without a vehicle. So they listened to the constituents, they listened to residents, they took the feedback on board and they approached Ashcroft and Clinton late last year to talk about the cost of rejoining the transit system,” Roden says.
“Earlier this year, they made the decision to rejoin. So as I said, that is just such positive news for people in Cache Creek and people in the region, who rely on these transportation links to get from point A to point B.
As for a timeline for Cache Creek rejoining the service, Roden says three communities are hoping to hash out the details as soon as possible.
