The new Sun Peaks Centre will play a big role in improving amenities in that community, according to the Chief Marketing Officer at Sun Peaks Resort.
Aidan Kelly says there are lots of discussions taking place right now between the Resort, Tourism Sun Peaks, and the Sun Peaks Municipality.
“You know a lot if about what’s the best use of that building? It’s going to be two sided,” he said. “It’s a community use building, and then it’s also going to be to generate business for the destination as well whether its bringing in some more larger scale events and what have you.”
“So there’s a whole host of possibilities.”
The $9-million facility is expected to open this summer, after being pushed back from a scheduled opening last Christmas.
“I personally just kind of want to get the thing built, and see what it sort of looks like as a finished product so that then we can see how to best leverage that. They’re working hard, and I see them every day,” Kelly noted.
“I got a condo about 50 metres from the construction site, so I get a birds eye view of everything that’s going on there, and it’s coming along nicely, and I’m looking forward to that being completed.”
