Police in Kamloops now have evidence to say a motel fire last week at a Travelodge was human-caused.
Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says police still don’t know if the fire was set accidentally or on purpose.
She says they have a suspect but don’t know where he is.
“We know who the suspect is, and we believe that he knows that police are aware of his identity… We’re just asking for him to come forward himself.”
The suspect is the man who had checked into the room the night before, and fled the scene after the fire was started.
The fire happened just before 8 a.m. on Jan. 30, at the Travelodge on Rogers Way. Fire crews managed to keep it to a single room, and was called suspicious right away.
