Many people in Kamloops are saying they felt the ground rumble after a 6.5-magnitude earthquake in Idaho yesterday.
Evie Thiessen lives downtown near the river and says she was watching T-V when her Venetian blinds starting swaying.
She says it wasn’t anything she’s felt before in 20 years of living in the same spot.
“I happened to get up right away and I looked at the lights above my bar, and they were swaying too. So I thought maybe I’m losing it, but I called my girlfriend and she said she felt the same thing.”
Thiessen says the shaking lasted for about a minute.
She’s one of a handful of people in Kamloops who have spoken to NL News to say what they felt. Many others in the Kamloops area and throughout the Okanagan have reported online that they felt the quake as well.
The rumble happened at about 4:30 p.m., after the earthquake happened north of Boise, about 1,000 kilometres away from the Kamloops area.
