After announcing plans to expand to Nanaimo earlier this month, the West Coast League will be adding a franchise in Kamloops.
The collegiate baseball league could be adding a team in the Tournament Capital as soon as next summer.
Further details are not yet clear, including where in Kamloops the team would play, but a formal announcement is expected to come in early September.
The West Coast League has 12 teams across B.C., Washington State and Oregon. Its new team in Kamloops will be a natural rival for the Kelowna Falcons. Other B.C. teams include the Victoria HarbourCats.
There are several dozen alumni in the West Coast League who are now in the MLB, including Canadian James Paxton, Jacoby Ellsbury, Chris Davis, Shane Bieber and Ryan Tepera.
