Kamloops will soon be getting a second ride-hailing company after the Passenger Transportation Board approved an application from Vancouver-based ReRyde.
The company says it will initially launch in Victoria and Kelowna with about 30 drivers in each city, but then plans to focus on expanding to Kamloops as well as Nanaimo, Campbell River, Vernon, Prince George, and Penticton as demand increases.
It will be second ride-hailing company in the Tournament Capital after Kabu Ride launched on Canada Day this year.
The company’s first application was denied back in January but an amended application was approved on Wednesday.
Since June 2018, ReRyde has been operating in Manitoba since June 2018, where it has a presence in Winnipeg, Modern, Winkler, and Selkirk. It also operates in Thunder Bay, Ontario with about 700 drivers in the two provinces.
