The COVID-19 outbreak at Royal Inland Hospital has grown by five today, to 71 total cases.
There are now 46 hospital staff and 25 patients affected, which is three more staff and two more patients from yesterday’s update. There remains one death linked to the outbreak – an elderly patient who passed away over the weekend.
Meanwhile, also within Kamloops, Interior Health says there have been no new cases linked to the outbreak at the Brocklehurst Gemstone Care Centre, and have been no new cases there for a week.
As of midnight last night, there were 23 cases at the long-term care home, including 16 residents and seven staff, and two deaths – both residents.
Province-wide, health officials are reporting another 546 new cases and 12 deaths today, including 70 cases and one death in Interior Health.
There are now 4,455 active cases in B.C., including 1,028 in IH. And within B.C. there are 291 people in hospital with COVID-19, and 75 of those people are in intensive care. In IH, there are 48 people in hospital and 17 people in ICU.
There have now been 66,265 COVID-19 cases in the province on the one year anniversary of the first case in the province.
