Kamloops basketball product Kelly Olynyk is on the move after today’s NBA trade deadline.
The seven-foot South Kamloops Secondary graduate is now a member of the Houston Rockets. Its as the Miami Heat acquired Victor Oladipo from Houston in exchange for Avery Bradley, Kelly Olynyk, and a 2022 draft pick.
It is the third team of Olynyk’s NBA career after he broke into the league with the Boston Celtics in 2013-14, his first of four seasons with the Celtics.
He later signed a four year contract with the Miami Heat and spent the last four seasons in South Beach. This season, Olynyk was averaging 10 points per game along with six rebounds and two assists while playing about 27 minutes a night.
Olynyk also helped the Heat reach the 2020 NBA Finals, where they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in six games.
