A trio of Kamloops Blazers have been listed on NHL Central Scouting’s final rankings ahead of the 2021 NHL Draft.
That includes Kamloops native Logan Stankoven, who is ranked 31st among North American skaters.
In six games over the 2020-21 WHL season, he put up 10 points (seven goals, three assists). He also finished the 2021 IIHF World Under-18 Hockey Championship in Texas with four goals and four assists in seven games, including the game-winning goal in the final.
“Honestly I’m not too satisfied [with the ranking] but everyone has their own opinion,” Stankoven told NL Sports. “I thought I showed pretty well. I can only control what I can control. I’m just lucky and thankful that I’m on that list.”
“Central Scouting hasn’t really warmed up to me. Maybe it has something to do with my size but at the end of the day I just have to go out and perform and do my thing.”
Joining Stankoven are forwards Caedan Bankier, ranked at 102, and Josh Pillar, ranked at 166. In 22 games during the WHL season, Bankier scored 23 points (11 goals, 12 assists) while Pillar led the team in scoring with 29 points (11 goals, 18 assists) in 22 games.
Stankoven and Bankier were on the preliminary watch list released in Oct. 2020, and remained on the players to watch list in January.
Pillar is ranked for the first time this season. The Warman, Saskatchewan native, went undrafted at the 2020 NHL draft despite being ranked as the 120th best North American skater by NHL’s Central Scouting.
Kamloops native Tyson Galloway is also ranked at 165 among North American skaters.
The 2021 NHL Draft is set to be held on July 23 and 24.
