He’s now working for the team he grew up cheering for.
Kamloops native Ty Robinson has accepted a job with the CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders as an Assistant Equipment Manager. The 23 year-old leaves for Regina this weekend ahead of training camp, which open on July 10.
“In the interview I mentioned that I used to dress up like a Roughrider for Halloween,” laughed Robinson. He got the Riders influence from his dad Colin “Toledo” Robinson, the longtime trainer for the Kamloops Blazers, himself a longtime Riders fan.
The younger Robinson has most recently worked with the BCHL’s Vernon Vipers but has also helped out for the Kamloops Broncos junior football team and the Blazers on occasion.
“I’m excited to get to Regina and get to work. Training camp will be busy but I’m looking forward to it,” he added.
The Valleyview Secondary graduate grew-up playing football and will re-connect with the sport.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders and the CFL are resuming after over a year-long pause due to COVID-19 that wiped out all of the 2020 season.
