UPDATE: 11:10 a.m.
Kamloops RCMP say students and staff have returned to NorKam Secondary School after a threat earlier today.
In an update at 11:10 a.m., spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn says an investigation found that the threat was unfounded.
“Students were relocated to an alternative location out of an abundance of caution while police investigated,” she said. “As more information was obtained and the threat did not materialize, police and the school district coordinated the safe return of staff and students to the school.”
Students were held at McArthur Island during the morning while the school was evacuated, which lasted close to three hours.
Evelyn says the RCMP are still investigating the nature of the threat.
“The Kamloops RCMP Detachment would like to thank the schools, students, and parents for their support, cooperation, and patience displayed during the investigation,” she added.
