Kamloops RCMP say two men were taken into custody after an armed robbery downtown this past Friday.
RCMP spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn says police were called to the 450 block of Lansdowne Street – near the Lansdowne Village Shopping Centre – around 7:22 p.m. on Dec. 3.
She says two people got into a store and said they had been robbed by two men with what appeared to be a gun.
“One of the victims was able to obtain a photo of the suspects, which was shared with officers on patrol,” Evelyn said. “Throughout the night, police continued to look for the suspects and were successful in finding them, the stolen handbag, and its contents.”
In an statement, she says an “object resembling a handgun” was found on one of the suspects and seized as part of the ongoing investigation.
Both men were released with a court date, and Evelyn says charged are expected once the investigation wraps up.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is being told to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file number 2021-42193
Evelyn says this incident is not connected to an armed robbery at “a local mall” which happened around the same time Friday evening.
That particular robbery is being investigated by B.C.’s police watchdog as one man taken to hospital.
