A staple of the Kamloops summer – Ribfest – will be going ahead this summer after two straight years of COVID-19 related cancellations.
Currently scheduled for Aug. 5, 6, and 7, organizers say they are confident that they can bring the festival back to Riverside Park.
“Kamloops has been eager for this event to come back in-person, and we are confident we can bring it safely back to Kamloops this summer,” Ribfest chair Danica Wilkinson said.
“It’s exciting to imagine Riverside park hosting this event again; six Ribbers, countless food vendors, live music all weekend, and families enjoying the free Family Fun Zone.”
Wilkinson adds Ribfest has raised over $650,000 for local charities and organizations in the Kamloops community, noting the economic impact of the 2019 Ribfest, the most recent in-person event, was estimated to be over $1.7 million.
“The partnerships and sponsor support we have received over the years is astonishing. We extend our deepest thanks to everyone, and especially those who have been with us since day one,” she said.
