Kamloops Blazers forward Logan Stankoven has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 30.
In four games against Vancouver and Victoria, the Kamloops native led all scorers in the WHL with five goals and eight assists for 13 points.
Stankoven had an assist in Wednesday’s 2-1 over Vancouver, a goal and two assists in a 6-1 win against Victoria on Friday, a hattrick and two assists in an 8-4 win over Victoria on Saturday, and a goal and three assists in Sunday’s 5-2 win over Vancouver.
Saturday’s game was Stankoven’s second five-point outing of the 2021-22 season.
Since returning from the World Juniors, Stankoven has put up 10 goals and 14 assists for 24 points in nine games. The Dallas Stars prospect is currently fourth in the WHL scoring race with 56 points – the most among any player in the Western Conference.
Stankoven and the Blazers will be looking to extend their six game winning streak when they head to Langley for a game against the Vancouver Giants on Friday before a pair of games on the Island against the Royals on Saturday and Sunday.
We’ve been talking a lot about Logan lately. He’s the hottest player in the WHL the past two weeks and now he adds the WHL Player of the Week Award. #Kamloops https://t.co/UD1kVFoa2D
