Interior Health has issued a drug alert in Kamloops warning of a “purple chunky substance” that was sold as either Down or Fentanyl.
IH issued the alert on Wednesday, saying the substance contained benzodiazepines and between 40 and 45 per cent of Fentanyl.
It says there is a high risk of overdose and even death, with other symptoms being drowsiness, memory loss, nausea, a heavy nod, and dizziness.
People are being urged to not use drugs alone and to have their drugs checked. They’re also being urged to sign up for a new drug alert system so they can be notified about toxic drugs in the community.
This particular alert will be in effect until June 7.
