ORIGINAL – Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the Kamloops area.
It says conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that could lead to heavy rain and possibly hail.
The weather agency also says strong wind gusts are possible, noting that heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
A similar alert has also been issued in the Nicola, the Okanagan, and the Shuswap.
“Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall,” a statement said.
