A petition to name a ski run at Sun Peaks Resort after Ryan Shtuka is gaining traction online, nearly five years after the Alberta man went missing.
Started by London Cramer, the petition has garnered more than 700 signatures as of this morning, Jan. 10.
“Ryan loved to snowboard and wanted to spend the season getting in as much riding as he could while also working for the resort,” Cramer wrote.
“Ryan is a truly amazing person and I believe he deserves his legacy to continue. For this reason, I’m starting this petition in order to ask Sun Peaks Resort to name a run after Ryan.”
One such “Ryan’s Run” sign was installed by Cramer at Sunshine Mountain Resort in Banff, Alta. A prototype of the sign shared to facebook included a short write-up of Ryan’s story, while also directing people to watch the Peaks and Valleys documentary on YouTube.
The 20-year-old Shtuka, from Beaumont, Alta., was last seen leaving a house party on Burfield Drive early in the morning on Feb. 17, 2018. Several extensive searches since that time have all been unsuccessful.
