RCMP say one person is dead after a two vehicle crash near Monte Creek just before 11 a.m. this morning.
BC Highway Patrol spokesperson Constable James Ward tells NL News the crash was between a semi truck that was carrying construction materials and a KIA Soul.
“It looks like the semi rolled onto the KIA and I believe the occupant of the KIA is deceased,” Ward said, noting the BC Coroners Service and an RCMP analyst have both been called to the scene.
Ward says the highway is expected to remain closed for a few hours, noting it is too soon to say what might have caused the crash.
Drive BC expects to have an update at 4 p.m. this afternoon. They say people can detour onto Barnhartvale Road though they’re being told to expect delays.
